my hard drive is deff failing, but i wanted to know if the screen flashing with like horizontal black lines is a symptom of that? or something else is the problem?Does a laptop screen flash from a failing hard drive?

If this laptop is 4 or 5 years old, you may want consider a new one. If you have a computer repair shop close by, have them look at it to verify the problem and the cost to repair. This will lead you to the decision of either repairing or replacing your laptop. Wish there was better news, but laptops are very restricted as to what can be repaired. No, lines like that usualu mean you have a bad LCD or a bad graphics card. Is the laptop under warranty? If it is I would send it in for servicing.
