Your question really references two different kinds of shooting: A) in a studio and B) on location.
For a studio situation, you need a location with neutral colored walls, high ceilings (10 feet or taller), and sufficient room to move back and forth and setup your backdrops. While you can do some shooting with your 430 EX flash on camera, you would be better served with it off camera and actually even better served with studio monolights and a flash meter to check exposure.
On location, you need some way to power your monolights if there's no electric outlet handy. And you don't necessarily need the backgrounds--you're using the location to do the shooting (hence, the term ';on location.';)
What you may be asking about is more of a ';portable studio,'; one that you can pack up and set up in another location. In which case, you need the camera (you've got it), sets of lenses (you might need more lenses for a full-length shot), a backup body (maybe later when you have more money or use a 35mm film SLR), your backdrop, and your lighting gear (and one on-camera flash isn't enough).

you need a shorter Telephoto lens, the 135 is too flattening in perspective (the minimum focus and object magnification are too extreme for portraiture, it will behave more like a 200mm on your 40D) the good news is that an ideal lens is the cheapest in the canon range, the EF 50mm f1.8, works out at an 80mm equivalent on your camera.
A second flash head with a slave facility would be useful to place behind the subject. If you get a canon 580 MkII you can slave your exsisting 430 gun off of it with full TTL.
However even a cheap manually adjustable flash head with either a slave function built in, or atached to a minicell slave would be a bonus.

Flash drives are more prone to data damage by washing (if it gets frogotten in a pants pocket,) or by electricity (a jolt from an electronic cigarette lighter would knock it dead.)
I never use flash drive sticks, I tried one, and someone almost broke it off at a convention buy bumping into me. I gave it away before it caused me any data loss stress. I use SD cards in adapters. That way, if the adapter gets busted, I can replace the adapter, and can continue to use the SD card without any problems.

The SB600 is a great flash (I love mine) that gives you a nice balance of performance and economy.
An external flash moves the flash lamp further away from the center of the camera lens. That cuts back on red-eye that ruins many pictures.
Extra reach is another positive, as any external flash will illuminate subjects much further way than a built-in flash can.
Finally, a great external flash like the SB600 allows you to bounce the light off ceiling, for a more natural lighting than direct flash. The SB600 can also swivel sideways, for those times when you turn the cameras into ';portrait'; mode.
There are inexpensive diffuser and bounce units for external flashes that can really help your flash photos look very natural.

In addition, your external flash (sb 600) will have a focus lamp. A red light helps the focusing of the camera.
Also, your cameras batteries will last longer as you have a separate battery for the flash and your not using your cameras batteries for flash.
Also, you will gain the use of high speed sync. Its high tech. Try this with your current setup. Pop up the flash, select shutter priority (Tv), and then try to select a speed faster than 1/250th (will look like 250). Try to use 1/500th and take a shot. It wont let you. But with the SB 600 you could go that fast. Its not something that a beginner would use right away but its there.
The SB 600 can also be used as an off camera flash. I believe the D80 can control it off camera with just the flash thats built into your camera. You'd have to look into that further.
And lastly the SB 600 is like 4 or 5 times more powerful than your pop up flash.

In addition, if you're using a wide lens or a lens hood you'll notice that your built in flash is obscured. The result is a shadow, half moon effect on all of your pictures.
You don't have to worry about that with a raised flash.

The SB600 is a great flash (I love mine) that gives you a nice balance of performance and economy.
An external flash moves the flash lamp further away from the center of the camera lens. That cuts back on red-eye that ruins many pictures.
Extra reach is another positive, as any external flash will illuminate subjects much further way than a built-in flash can.
Finally, a great external flash like the SB600 allows you to bounce the light off ceiling, for a more natural lighting than direct flash. The SB600 can also swivel sideways, for those times when you turn the cameras into ';portrait'; mode.
There are inexpensive diffuser and bounce units for external flashes that can really help your flash photos look very natural.

In addition, your external flash (sb 600) will have a focus lamp. A red light helps the focusing of the camera.
Also, your cameras batteries will last longer as you have a separate battery for the flash and your not using your cameras batteries for flash.
Also, you will gain the use of high speed sync. Its high tech. Try this with your current setup. Pop up the flash, select shutter priority (Tv), and then try to select a speed faster than 1/250th (will look like 250). Try to use 1/500th and take a shot. It wont let you. But with the SB 600 you could go that fast. Its not something that a beginner would use right away but its there.
The SB 600 can also be used as an off camera flash. I believe the D80 can control it off camera with just the flash thats built into your camera. You'd have to look into that further.
And lastly the SB 600 is like 4 or 5 times more powerful than your pop up flash.

In addition, if you're using a wide lens or a lens hood you'll notice that your built in flash is obscured. The result is a shadow, half moon effect on all of your pictures.
You don't have to worry about that with a raised flash.

How do i trf my saved game from ps2 to my ps3 using a usb flash disk?
hi its been a while since i've played with my ps2 but i do remember playing fight night 3 and downloaded a savegame (trainer) into a usb flash disk and uploaded into my ps2 and it works.
now is it possible to download a ps2 savegame and put it into a ps3 via a flash disk and upload it? i really hope i don't need to buy a memory card reader.

So long as you have the game, and its compatible with ps3 (60gb version only, not 40 or 80), then this should work:
1) Get savegame onto flash disk (USB 2.0, because 1.0 not compatible)
2) Go to Game%26gt;Internal Memory Card on the home menu, and create a card - this allows you to have ps2 game saves.
3) Put usb into ps3, and go to the save file
4) Copy it (using Triangle%26gt;Copy) and choose the location as the internal memory card - this is the onyl location you can save ps2 games to, so you must have one.
5) If you can't copy to there, the bugger, it probs won't work.
6) If 5) is applicable, then I'm very sorry it didn't work out!

I have a question about a new USB flash drive?
I just bought a brand new USB flash drive today. I planned to use it for storing pictures. When I tried to put the first picture on the computer displayed an error message saying that the picture will not fit. Try to use it on another PC. If it does work then your current PC setup may have a problem. Suggest to install the appropriate USB driver form the CD which usually comes with the USB drive.

Please please make sure you back them up to cd or dvd. I usually have 3 copies and as I add pictures pitch the oldest backup. 2004 Nissan Quest shuts down after panel lights flash?
My 2004 Quest was not responding to the gas. I looked at the panel and the brake and battery light were flashing together. Then the instrument panel turned off shortly followed by the engine shuting down. Tried to start, and it wouldn't , i needed a jump. Once it was jumped it was fine for about 2 minutes, and then it would repeat the above and shut down. Now that i have it home, i cant get this to repeat in order to get a fault code. Has your clock reset to 12:00? You may have a loose battery connection.

The .swf file will only play if you have the appropriate Flash Player (offline or online). If you want to create a stand alone then open the .swf file. And while in the player Goto File-%26gt;Creat Projector .
Now what you have is an exe file that can play anywhere independent of flash player;on a CD for example.
But if you want to use the movie in a web page you'll have to use the .swf and not the .exe file.

Thank you for ur help Deever88. I'm not too computer swavy either and I was wondering y I had 2 Internet Explorers loaded under programs one says 64 bit next to it and the other doesn't. It wasn't until after i downloaded Mozilla that I realized the other one is the 32 bit Explorer. You should check Start/Programs...you may have it too. Oh well, I'll keep Mozilla for the time being.

If Dreamewaver is like Frontpage, then you should be able to embed an object. Just choose your flash object and embed it into a new page called index.html or whatever you please.
Then, you can align the embedded object to your needs, adjust the elements around the page to match your flash object to make it all blend together (eg if your flash background is black, maybe change your page background to black).
Then, you can save your page as index.html, and then upload that index.html page and your flash file to your web hosting account.

Whenever I want my XTi to flash, I just pull up the flash. I'm not sure if that's the best thing to do, but it hasn't hurt my camera yet. You could try putting it on 'night portraits' then letting the flash pop up, and then changing the settings again, while keeping the flash up, if you don't want to take a chance forcing the flash up.

Whenever I want my XTi to flash, I just pull up the flash. I'm not sure if that's the best thing to do, but it hasn't hurt my camera yet. You could try putting it on 'night portraits' then letting the flash pop up, and then changing the settings again, while keeping the flash up, if you don't want to take a chance forcing the flash up.

The consistently red color of the human reflex derives from the red blood pigment hemoglobin. Light from the flash picks up the red from blood vessels encountered during its bounce off the retina, just as reflected sunlight picks up the color of a red sweater.
Why, then, do animal reflexes come in so many other colors and seldom in red? The answer lies in the tapetum lucidum, a highly reflective, variably pigmented membrane backing the retina in animals with good night vision (including dogs, cats and most domestic animals) but entirely absent in humans. The tapetum lies directly behind the retinal photoreceptors. Nova's The Nocturnal Eye nicely illustrates the anatomy.
The tapetum enhances low-light vision by giving retinal photoreceptors a 2nd crack at any incoming light that manages to escape absorption (detection) on the first pass. In dogs, at least, an additional boost may come from tapetal fluorescence, which shifts incoming wavelengths into better alignment with the peak spectral sensitivities of the photoreceptors. Tapetal pigments surely come into play here.
When tapetal pigment is present, its color dominates the color of a given animal's reflex. Tapetal color loosely follows coat color. For example, black coats and green reflexes tend to go together, as seen in our border collie above. Most dogs and cats show a blue reflex as their eyes mature in the first 6-8 months of life. Pigment-poor animals like blue point Siamese cats with no tapetal pigmentation show a red reflex for the same reason humans do.

Both my dogs' eyes glow green in photos, and they're as far from wolfish as it gets. Your red-eyed dog is some sort of mutant freak. Is he white or blue-eyed? Maybe he lacks certain pigments that wolves and most domestic dogs have.

No.. my shih tzu's eyes always come out green and she has no wolf in her..lol...
It just depends on the light, dogs eye color etc.. Some come out red, green, orange and purple.. At least those are the colors I have seen from a flash.

There is a theory amoungst Bernese Mountain Mountain Dogs people, that since the colour that dogs' eyes reflect is linked to pigmentation etc., those that reflect red most probably carry the gene for blue eyes whilst those that reflect green, to greenish/white do not.
I am not aware of any conclusive studies undertaken, but certainly no blue eyes have ever resulted from parents that reflect green or if one parent reflects green, but blue eyes do occur if both parents reflect red.

i got Visual basic 6.0 portable and iv been playing some games, flash games on the internet and i want to make a game trainer with it, but i cant get them to work, i think it has something to do with the 'Placement' of the SWF part on vb 6.0, where you put the url in, the movie slot, but none of them work, and i got a swf decompiler, SoThink. but i dont know how to use it, can some one help?How to get a flash games SWF thing?

You can't build trainers for flash games, unless the creator hasn't locked root and you know all the paths to change even then it's not full proof. Also you need flash for that not Visual Basic!
